Arbuckle Karst Conservancy is a non-profit science organization dedicated to studying the caves and karst features of the Arbuckle Mountains / Arbuckle-Simpson aquifer. The AKC archives and maps caves and other karst features such as springs and surface fractures to understand in greater detail the movement of water and biota within the subsurface. Counties include Pontotoc, Murray, Carter, and Johnston Counties of South Central Oklahoma. The AKC is non-political, taking a neutral approach to assist landowners, researchers, and other entities. Research is confidential to protect landowners as well as the fragile karst ecosystem. To protect karst resources, the AKC will purchase caves and easments from willing land owners. Please contact the Arbuckle Karst Conservancy to assist in managing and understanding the subsurface and surface expressions of the subsurface.
