RAD
RAD(research architecture design) is a Hong Kong architecture firm (formerly known as OMA Asia with Rem Koolhaas) founded by Harvard trained architect Aaron Tan.
RAD projects include SK Telecom HQ, W hotel Seoul, AIA tower, Taj hotels, Orchard Rd masterplan, Jurong Town Corporation master plan, Taiwan highway service center and Jeon Ju University Star center. New projects include designer office towers in HK, boutique hotels in China and mixed use development & designer hotels in India. RAD won many competitions and received awards from HKIA, Korean Institute of Architects and PDRA.
RAD has a staff of 25 architects, urban planners and interior design and media researches of international origin, led by Aaron Tan, Architects, designers and technicians work in close collaboration. Consultants and external critics participate from the beginning of the design process.
Works by RAD / Aaron Tan are widely published and participated in international exhibitions such as Venice Biennale (2008), HK/Shenzhen Biennale (2007), Archilab in France (2002), Hayward in London (2000), Cities on the Move in several major cities of Europe (1997), Kwangju Biennale in Seoul (1997), City/Space/Globalisation in New York (1998).
Aaron Tan has given public lectures in many institutions, including the NAI Rotterdam, Federal SQ in Melbourne, PAM in Kuala Lumpar, APP in Sydney, TNProbe in Tokyo, AAAsia in Beijing and GSD Harvard.
The research and intellectual involvements form the important cornerstone in the works of RAD. Together with the reality of building praxis; RAD positioned itself as a visionary international office in the pursue of excellent contributions to this world through our projects.
