The pulmonary embolism or blood clots in lungs is a life threatening blockage of an artery in the lungs caused by fat, air, blood clot or tumor cells blocked. This is caused by blood clots that travel to the lungs from another art of the body mostly the legs. Other substances can cause the blockage within the blood vessels inside the lungs like fat from within the marrow of a broken bone, part of a tumor and air bubbles. When this occurs, the arteries in the lungs are blocked making it difficult for the lungs to provide oxygen to the body.
