Lens Perception
Nasko Oskov started with photography in 2001 with a gift of a used Epson point and shoot digital camera. He fell in love with the possibility of capturing the world and expressing himself through photography. Today he is passionate about photography, which combines the different sides of his personality - the computer scientist with the artist. He loves sharing with people the result of this combination through his unique perception of the world shown in his images.
Nasko primarily shoots nature and landscape images trying to capture the beauty of the places where he lives or visits. Currently based in the United States Pacific Northwest he has a great playground in which to experiment, enjoy, and create his art. Having lived in the Midwest and grown up in Bulgaria, he has seen the beauty of our world in a variety of places. Recently, Nasko started photographing people in candid environments as well as in formal portraits. His current area of exploration is studio photography and the mastering of controlled lighting.
Even though Nasko started his photography journey with an old used point and shoot camera, he evolved through the different options present at the time, and currently uses a professional Nikon digital camera. He has shot some film in his life, but digital photography proved to be the medium that allows his technical inclination to contribute to his artistic expression. The instantenious nature of digital photography allows him to ensure that his vision of what the capture should be matches what he has recorded using his camera before moving on.
Nasko's idea of a great photograph is a combination of vivid colors and strong composition in an image. Even further, a factor that makes a photograph stand out for him is a unique point of view taken by the artist. For Nasko, photography is not a mere verbatim capture of a view, rather it is an artistic expression of the world perceived by the photographer through the lens of his camera.
