The activity of the Theory Group involves theoretical study of combustion, dynamics and stability of premixed flames, transition from deflagration-to-detonation regime, and applications of the combustion theory such as e.g. study of knock in SI engines, as well as white dwarf burning in the supernova events. Issues that are addressed are connected to the hydrodynamic instability of flames, influence of adhesive walls and heat losses to the walls. In addition we investigate properties of hydrogen atoms and molecules in a strong magnetic field and study the Bose-Einstein condensation of 3D and 2D excitons and quantum coherence in semiconductor nanostructures in a magnetic field.
