ABOUT KAREN KAHN:
I've always been drawn to photography. As a child I eagerly photographed friends and family, marveling at how I could capture pieces of life and freeze time, allowing me to bring special moments into the future and share them with others.
At the University of Michigan, I began studying photography while earning my bachelor's degree in anthropology. Extensive photography coursework provided my foundation for photo technique and film basics. After graduating in 1994, I joined Detroit-area superstars David Baditoi (www.baditoiphoto.com) and Paul Price (www.paulpricephoto.com) as a photo assistant. I spent a year in this position before moving to Connecticut.
After moving to Connecticut I completed multiple photography classes at SUNY Purchase. I continued to photograph every event and party I attended and eventually transitioned from film to digital cameras.
Today, family portraiture is my speciality, with children my favorite subject - capturing their wondrous, playful, and fleeting moments. I also frequently, and with great pleasure, photograph personal parties and corporate events.
Fine art photography remains one of my passions.
