Saltwater Inc. deploys fishery observers on commercial fishing vessels off the coast of Alaska, coast of Hawaii, and the coast of New England. Saltwater hires biology and natural science majors to work as fishery observers and monitors. Saltwater Inc. also hires high school graduates as dockside monitors. The observers can work as a grounfish observer, a crab observer, a scallop observer, as a marine mammal observer.

This is a conservation based website aimed at pulling together ecological and conservation information from across the world particularly with regard to local endemic species. The world has been divided into biokingdoms, bioregions and bioprovinces. At each level there is background information on biodiversity, while at the bioprovince level there is further information on climate, geology and primary plant formations. The aim is to invite contributions to extend the accounts to include bryophytes, vascular plants, fungi, lichens, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals and invertebrates, but again with particular emphasis on endemic and locally important species. Ultimately the aim is to help develop a global conservation strategy.
