The website for the educational NGO Las Manos de Christine. Las Manos believes in the power of education to improve the lives of impoverished children. Such children need food and shelter to survive, but to move beyond survival, to permanently change their lives for the better, they need more than this; they need education in a marketable skill. The ability to speak English gives access to stable and well-paying jobs, the kind of jobs that will allow them to support themselves and their families rather than to spend their lives relying on charity.
Las Manos exists to support NGOs working to educate children. Typically, charitable schools supply a full education to at risk and developmentally disadvantaged children with little governmental assistance and within a strict budget. Las Manos reduces the workload and the expenses of these schools while providing a private academy level of education in English. Such an education gives life-changing opportunities to children who desperately need them.
Las Manos provides English programs, quality resources, and trained teachers to non-profits and other groups that educate underprivileged children. Tailored English curricula are designed by education professionals, each class is assigned a permanent, trained and experienced instructor, volunteers are integrated into the program to give direct assistance to individuals and the classes are taught with the latest teaching methods and using the most effective resources available.
