BRIAN THE FOLKSINGER
Brian the Folksinger is the real thing, the archetypical folkinger, an American Bard. He has lived the life. Not as a star in the folk music business, but taking his place among the people, playing for everyone and anyone who wanted a song, in the world outside the spotlight, where all the world's a stage. He sang on the street, at the endless small fests and fairs, cafes, restaurants, campfires, boats, beaches, kitchens and livingrooms, and the people gathered round. He sang and spoke of love and peace, of freedom and justice, of hard times and good times, of heart and soul. He openned the door of compassion to reveal that others, so different in place and time, are really people not unlike ourselves, moved by the same emotions, hurt by the same wrongs, and that the differences are small compared to all we hold in common. A passionate vocalist, already perfroming as a child, helping lead workshops at 13, who took up his guitar and headed out into the world at 14. At 18, he built a hammered dulcimer, which eventually replaced his guitar, though still singing traditional, modern, and original songs from many genres, not traditional hammered dulcimer music. This combination produced a unique sound and style, both as a singer and for the dulcimer, and drove the development of his original 5.5 octave solid-body electric dulcimer. The extensive homesite contains information on digital downloads, CDs, educational programs, promotional and personal info, regularly updated news and 'works in progress' pages, an on-going web journal and tour journal archive of past events and adventures, directories to internet videos, dulcimer history and building, and much more.
