Missouri Digital Heritage
The Missouri Digital Heritage is a portal to historical records located at various archives, museums and libraries throughout the state of Missouri, hosted by the Office of the Secretary of State in partnership with Missouri State Archives and the Missouri State Library. In 2007, Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan proposed this landmark initiative to further Missourians access to information about the history of Missouri and local communities. The site includes digital archives collections, exhibits, and resources for educators. Major collections include birth and death records, civil war documents, photograph collections, court records and local collections. The Missouri Digital Heritage also offers classroom curricula based on the Department of Elementary and Secondary Educations standards to enable students and others to understand their heritage through the use of primary materials. Teachers, parents, and students can retrieve educational materials directly from the website.
