Elizabeth Overs Artist Statement. The major influence and direction of my work over the past few years has been the world of Sci-Fi. Much of this influence is down to my father who is a Robotics Engineer for CSIRO and a Sci-Fi movie fan. I grew up having to watch old black and white Sci–Fi movies and even the original episodes of the British series Doctor Who. Through my studies of the Sci-Fi genre, it became apparent that many artists use alter egos when working within this field and so I began to devise my own persona, called Liz G (Elizabeth Green aka Lizard Girl). This persona is an eclectic combination of influences ranging from my childhood interest in lizards to late 80s fashion and its fluorescent colour palette as well as Sci- Fi inspired time travelling adventures. My installations comprise of artifacts belonging to Liz G; including a time machine, an arm band and her mission outfit. Each art object encompasses visual codes of transporting the viewer into the past, present and
future travel adventures of Liz G.
