Towards Peace Book
Putting an end to the Middle East conflicts and spreading peace between Arabs/Muslims and the West have become the goal of millions worldwide. Despite the fact that achieving this goal is possible, no successful strategy has been proposed to make it happen. This lack of a successful strategy explains why we still have the Arab-Israeli conflict has continued for a century, why the United States had 9/11, why we have the wars in Iraq and in Afghanistan, and why there is the threat of wars against Iran and Syria. In order to achieve peace between Arabs/Muslims and the West, the message (concerns, demands, and opinions) of each side must be taken into account. Arabs/Muslims have always had their message, but they have not succeeded in delivering it to the West in a language that the Westerners understand. The West has its own message as well; however, it has similarly failed in communicating that message to Arabs/Muslims, who have lost trust in the West during the long wait for the West to understand their “unclear” message.Through growing up in an Arab-Muslim family and living in the West Bank for nineteen years, I have had the chance to uniquely understand the Arab/Muslim view of the best solution to the constantly deteriorating relationships between them and the West. Then moving to live in the US and attending an american University have given me the chance to conduct four years worth of ground research. This research has enabled me to familiarize myself with the Westerners’ view when it comes to proposing solutions to the deterioration of relationships between the Western world and the Arab/Muslim world. As a result of the interaction with both sides, I have developed a “language” that I use in the book to deliver the message of each side in a form that is understandable to the other side. Together, my experience and the language that I use in the book, provide a unique, novel, and detailed plan that could feasibly be used to end the conflict/wars and spread peace between Arabs/Muslims and the West.V. Why does the whole idea of Towards Peace between Arabs/Muslims and the West matter? The book is about the relationships between Arabs/Muslims and the West, which is a significant part of the ongoing world politics these days. Also, I agree with Martin Luther King that “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” I believe that injustice and instability in the Middle East can be a threat to the justice and stability in any typical Western country.1) Is the book for specialists in the field of politics? I believe that any specialist in the field of politics can find the book valuable in the way and the quantity it presents the situation.2) Might students find the book beneficial? Since the book is based mostly on ground research, I think it can be used by students from all different levels to understand many aspects of life and politics in the Arab/Islamic world and in the West.3) Does the book touch on larger fields of study? The book goes wherever politics between Arabs/Muslims and the West goes. Due to the fact that the ongoing politics has a great influence on many aspects of life in both the Western and the Arab/Islamic worlds, I think that understanding the politics of my book can greatly help people understand other related-to-politics issues.4) Is the book a “trade” book? The book is readable by the general public; its English is “popular” and its contents are presented wisely; I start with the basic issues and then I move to the most complicated ones. I’m also hopeful that the book will be translated to other languages as time goes by.
