Naomi Wright is a producer / director working in film and television. She specialises in arts documentaries - recently producing 10-part series for ITV1 called Faith in the Frame, presented by Melvyn Bragg. She also writes and directs short films, the latest of which was called String, which has played in 14 international film festivals and won three awards.

The camera lens is a way of creating an immediate engagement with the world around me. Everything is more vivid, more challenging, more intriguing, more engaging, more enriching in that moment of complete attentiveness.
I look at the margins of things, the edges, the layers of life that are peeling off to reveal something about what lies underneath.
I have an ongoing love affair with New York City, an infatuation that has become a deep and sustaining relationship, so many but not all of my photographs are taken here.
My photographs are largely unedited. What you see is what I saw.
Except for the collage series, where I try and build up the layers of my own visual experience into a deep image, depth being created by accretion. It's the way that historians talk about understanding the "deep history" of a place. It's not necessarily the great public statements and actions that count, but the repetition of daily life across hundreds, thousands, millions, of experiences.
