Jonathon Towle -- also known as “Dakarai” (da.car.ee)-- is a Californian based photographer known for his colorful and intimate portraiture of the beautiful people he chooses to surround himself with. He is a strong believer in establishing relationships with his models and then allowing the portraits to “take themselves” over the buildup of time and personal connections. His portraits are also unique in the way that he resourcefully uses the world around him to create stunning imagery that provokes emotional response from the viewer.
Dakarai's history is as individual as his art. Before graduating high school in Rhinebeck, NY he had moved over fifteen times around New England. This built up his love for traveling and made him adjust to many environments. He graduated top of class and later attended Boston University and received his bachelor’s degree in filmmaking. Since then, he has started his own wedding photography business (www.apollofotografie.com) out of Long Beach, CA but serves all over the West Coast.
In addition to photography and film, Dakarai also loves drawing, making pottery, reiki, yoga, fire dancing, exploring the world, and all the powers of his mind.
