Kathy Herran - They Married Confederate Officers
Charlotte Civil War historian Kathy Neill Herran details the lives of Dr. Robert Hall Morrison, the founder of Davidson College in North Carolina, and his six daughters who married very prominent Confederate officers from the American Civil War, among them, Lieutenant General Stonewall Jackson and Lieutenant General Daniel Harvey Hill. The book, which won the Willie Parker Peace History Book Award from the North Carolina Society of Historians in 1996 highlights the antebellum south, the rigors of the Civil War, and the south's movement into the reconstruction era and the twentieth century.
