MEET the ARTIST
Odi’e (pronunciation od -ay) is a clothing line owned and operated by Amanda Haynes. She started it in 2006 with a complete clothing collection of six pieces submitted to Hatchfest’s International Design Contest in Bozeman, MT; this won three out of four screenings judged by a panel of four people. From there, she took her clothing line to La Bohem’e in Whitefish, MT in the fall of 06 ; and promoted her line through collaboration with the shop owners which led to the participation in some of Whitefish’s first fashion shows( The Little Black Dress Affair winter 07) and the WF Theater Co. In the fall of 07 WF Theater Co. welcomed her as a main costumer in their productions of Cinderella and School House Rock. After the closing of La Bohem’e in the fall of 07, and a winter/ spring of speculation on whether to continue as fashion designer, she happened to stumble on My Secret Treasures in Kalispell after hearing an ad that said they took consignment clothes. Thinking only to liquidate her line and quite, she was rather surprised when the owner loved her line and asked her to make more clothes for the store. Thus, after some setbacks, she is still designing and creating one of a kind pieces.
Born in 1985 in Sidney, NY; Amanda Haynes moved to Montana at the age of 5 with her family. There she grew up hiking, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and horseback riding with her brother and parents. Home schooled, she learned fine arts, sewing, and drama from her mother and father, and at the age of thirteen she started altering her Dad’s flannel shirts into medieval shirts. Mostly self taught Amanda started fashion design in costuming, taking sewing design in the last two years of school instead of Trig and Algebra.
Currently she is an avid photographer, videographer http://www.youtube.com/user/Sithornia30, paints acrylic scenes, trains young horses part time, runs an EBay business, is working on two degrees at FVCC, works as a volunteer at WF Theater Co, sells clothing at the local Farmer's Markets, designs clothing for My Secret Treasures , located on Main St. on Kalispell, and custom clothing for individuals.
