La Pasta Italia began as a pasta factory located in industrial center on Michigan Street. Owners and operators Walt and Monique Stanckiewitz offered pasta and ravioli for wholesale customers such as Mario's Place, The Mission Inn, Ciao Bella, Rosa's, New York Grille, Ziaritas, Citrone, and Gabbiano's. Daily overruns were sold to the public out of the front office. Many people arrived to purchase their fresh pasta and soon the front of the pasta shop was turned into a little store. It was only a few years after that the Deli was born to accommodate additional items.

Pasta Types - Information On The Different Types Of Pasta
If you wished to count all of the different pasta types, you'd probably have to start in Italy. Even though the Italians have done a fairly thorough job of classifying the major different types, there are so many regional varieties, that coming up with an exact number would be challenging to say the least. In the United States, the number of pasta types people are familiar with is quite a bit smaller, maybe a dozen or so. If you go into a store specializing in Italian food however, you get a hint as to the large number of pasta types you can choose from.
