The Mount Soledad Easter Cross has recently been ruled a war memorial. Phil Paulson filed suite in 1989 to have the cross removed from federal land and won countless federal court rulings over the next 17 years. Ultimately big money and Christian lobbyists won out when the land was illegally transferred to federal ownership.
