The Poppy Truck
Lets Save the Poppy Truck. - In 2005 Mr. Larry Josie created “The Poppy Truck”. The truck was created for the Year of the Veteran. The name “The Poppy Truck” stuck as children with special needs named it during an event attended by Larry and the truck. In 2007, Larry decided to go one step further by designing the actual trailer in support of our troops. The actual trailer design was 100% donated while Larry paid for the actual truck personally. Larry and “The Poppy Truck” have attended many events in support of the troops, whether it is in communities for parades, events, Remembrance Day ceremonies, Canadian Forces Bases, repatriation ceremonies, schools, and has seen the troops headed for Afghanistan off. Last summer alone Larry was home for just two weekends. Out of pocket and working at the same time, Larry paid for 90% of these outings with the truck, wherever needed; “The Poppy Truck” was always in attendance.
Unfortunately, the famous truck might not be able to make any more appearances. Earlier this year Larry lost his carrier contract for a local company, which was his sole income as an owner/ operator. The truck will be repossessed in December of this year unless there is an intervention. Realizing that this is short notice, due in part that Mr. Josie is a very proud man, a Veteran himself, and has had a hard time coming forward to ask for assistance understandably.
All donations received go directly back into the truck in the form of payments to outstanding accounts. These payments are crucial, in that otherwise, the truck will be taken. As it stands right now, The Poppy Truck cannot “work”, it can run but not in a business sense. However, as of the beginning of December, it will be unable to do either without your help. If these payments are caught up, there is work for the truck.
-
It takes very big person to ask for help and a very dedicated man to make such a tremendous tribute to our troops and Veterans. Together we can save our Poppy Truck and have it running the roads of Canada en route to support our troops in no time!
