Virginia Rivers was born and raised in Washington State, where she learned a great love of the outdoors, nature and animals. After 30 years of college teaching, she has now retired so she can devote all of her time to photography. She has been taking photographs of the natural world for 25 years, and her work has been published many times.
A few years ago, she converted to digital photography because of the flexibility offered by digital cameras. At that same time, she also began the fun and challenging work of photographing dogs and horses. Although still interested in shooting wild creatures, our beloved four-legged companions provide a new and exciting subject.
Her work has appeared in the Audubon Engagement Calendar series, the Audubon Butterfly Calendar series, Sierra Magazine, EOS Magazine and numerous local publications and federal management agency websites. Her photographs have been featured in several art shows in Reno, Nevada and the San Francisco Bay Area.
