L.J.G BRIAR PIPES - HANDYCRAFT of CORSICA. Briar Works Since 1920. 1964 At the age of 20, I, Luciano J.Georges took over the family business, Riviera Briar Pipe, in Bastia, Corsica. At the time, our briar blocks factory was one of the most important block suppliers in the world pipe industry. Production of briar blocks reached 600.000 pieces per year.
My first job was to travel around Corsica looking for the best briar roots, allowing us to have the finest blocks production. The Riviera Briar Pipe maintained its very strong and longstanding reputation in the pipe-making industry.
One day, Sven Knudsen visited from Denmark, looking for straight grain blocks. I met The Pipe Magus. He subsequently invited me home with him, to teach me the traditional way and become a handmade pipe maker.
Today, aged 64, I continue to produce handmade pipes for the finest connoisseurs and smokers all around the world. It would be my pleasure to meet all of your exigencies by sculpting your pipe using all of my expertise and passion.
