Was Stonehenge an observatory? Yes indeed it was! Any theory that proposes the use of Stonehenge as an observatory must deal with an uncomfortable truth: The monument is not located at the highest point in its area, as you would surely expect, but there is higher ground to the north east and also to the south west.
