Paulson Bott Press | Limited Edition Intaglio Prints & Gallery | Berkeley California
Paulson Bott Press was founded in 1993 by Pam Paulson. After six years as an Intaglio printer for Crown Point Press in San Francisco, and having earned the title of Master Printer, Pam left Crown Point and set up a small studio in the small industrial city of Emeryville, California. Paulson's first studio was a tiny space, barely large enough to hold a small handcranked press and a hot plate for rolling grounds. Initially, Pam printed editions for local artists. As the demand for her services increased, Pam moved into a larger studio, and fully equipped the space to accommodate full-scale intaglio printing projects. Renee Bott, a fellow printer from Crown Point Press, joined Pam in 1996, and together they created a new partnership. That summer, the business moved into a newly renovated, more spacious studio and acquired a large press. In January of 1997, Paulson Bott Press launched its first publication of four color etchings by Christopher Brown. Since then, Paulson Bott Press has published projects by: Donald Baechler, Radcliffe Bailey, Ross Bleckner, James Brown, Squeak Carnwath, Greg Colson, Caio Fonseca, Salomon Huerta, Chris Johanson, Amy Kaufman, Margaret Kilgallen, Hung Liu, Enrique Martinez Celaya, Deborah Oropallo, and Martin Puryear, as well as Introductions Projects by Mari Andrews, Lynn Beldner and Steve Briscoe.
