Providence Mortgage Capital Corp. is a newly-formed specialty finance company that intends to acquire residential mortgage-backed securities (or RMBS) for which a U.S. government entity, such as the Government National Mortgage Association (or Ginnie Mae), or a U.S. government-sponsored entity (or GSE), such as the Federal National Mortgage Association (or Fannie Mae) or the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (or Freddie Mac), guarantees payment of principal and interest to holders of the securities (or Agency MBS). Our Agency MBS assets are expected to consist of Agency MBS pass-through securities and Agency MBS structured products.
Our objective is to generate attractive risk-adjusted total returns and cash yields for our stockholders. We intend to achieve this objective by employing a relative value strategy to construct and manage a portfolio of Agency MBS that we expect to generate cash yields and potential appreciation in value to deliver an attractive total return to our stockholders. Our Manager will manage our portfolio to enhance stockholder returns, improve the return profile of the portfolio across a variety of interest rate and prepayment scenarios and hedge specific risks to our portfolio as we deem appropriate. We intend to generate income principally from the spread between the yield on our assets and the cost of our borrowings and hedges, as well as from realized gains on our assets. We expect to leverage our assets with short-term borrowings under repurchase agreements.
