American Flyer and S Scale Trains
S Scale trains (3/16" = 1', or 1:64 scale) is one of the fastest growing segments in model railroading. S Scale trains are larger than HO Scale trains so they run more reliably, track better and are more easily modeled and detailed to prototypical accuracy. At the same time, an S Scale layout takes up 25% less space than an O Scale layout. If an S Scale standard gauge layout is too large for your space, S Scale narrow gauge (Sn3, Sn42) equipment is about the same size as standard gauge HO equipment while still offering the advantages of the larger scale. Because of these reasons, many people consider S Scale trains to be the Ideal Scale.
