However, the use of the terms here is not as another institution but as a concept which by its name and nature promotes man as anthropos. Since man is a composite of mind, body, and soul, it is reasonable to hold that the disciplines of medicine, theology, and ethics are germane to man as anthropos. While the current climate provides for man as anthropos not only many opportunities but also many challenges, it seems that we are more aware of the former than we are of the latter. Medicine finds itself in the unique situation where the two - opportunities and challenges - converge. Medicine then, must comprehend and articulate these opportunities and challenges.
