It is about the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia during 1975~1979. This book is a memoir based on the experiences of survivor Lam Chung, who escaped from the deaths of an estimated 1.5 million people or 1/5 of the country's total population (estimates range from 850,000 to two million) under its regime, through execution, torture, starvation and forced labor.
It is reality and shown more tragic than the film The Killing Fields displayed
