Ray and Amy Violin Duo
Ray and Amy Iwazumi, brother and sister, perform extensively as individuals and as a violin duo specializing in repertoire for two solo violins, including works composed and arranged by Ray Iwazumi. Together they have been heard in the United States, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Japan. In New York, where they are based, they have performed at the Clark Studio Theater and Morse Hall at Lincoln Center, the Sejong Music Center, and Steinway Hall. They have also appeared in the annual Beyond the Machine festival, exploring new music in collaboration with computer music technology, premiering a work in this medium written by Ray Iwazumi. In 2003, they gave their Korean debut in Seoul at the Hoam Art Hall, playing works by de B?riot, Wieniawski, Ysa?e, Milstein, Sarasate, and arrangements of Korean songs for two solo violins by Ray Iwazumi. In 2004, they gave their Japanese debut, broadcast over NHK-FM, national radio of Japan. Recently, they have been awarded the Salon de Virtuosi Career Grant, and as a result have been featured several times on WQXR-FM on the Young Artists Showcase hosted by Bob Sherman.
