Ben Marans is an avid traveler, environmentalist and professional photographer.
It started overseas. After his first introduction to the cultures, people and architecture of Asia in 2000, he returned on several occasions to spend time in China, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong and India. Ben took photos to capture the everyday scenes that unfolded before his eyes.
These images formed the MYasia series, featured over three issues in Mix Magazine (2006). Ben also presented this series alongside other talented photographers as part of the Toronto Contact Photography Festival (2006).
Ben’s work has been shown at the Urban Annex Cafe (2003), the Annex Patio Art Show (2003-2005) as well as the Queen Mother Cafe (2005) and the Art in the Village Gallery (2005) in Toronto.
Most recently, Ben’s work has been selected for Photosho magazine (2008) and was short-listed for publication in National Geographic magazine (2008). In addition to selling prints, Ben has documented weddings and special events.
Ben lives in Toronto with his wife and son and, when not behind the lens, he manages an environmental grants program.
