Ed Rode Photography
Ed Rode is an experienced and acclaimed photographer, known for his work in portrait, event, editorial and commercial photoraphy. Ed Rode Biography Inspired by the interplay of light and shadow, he is able to manipulate and maximize both for dramatic effect. Fascinated by the subtleties of texture and tone, he is an expert in capturing the finest details of surface and shade. Intrigued by the inherent nuances of personality and emotion, he is patient enough to wait for the perfect, spontaneous moment. He is photographer Ed Rode. Actually, most folks have already seen Ed’s work somewhere. National magazines have featured his photographs. For two years, he served as chief photographer and photo editor for Sports Nashville magazine. His shots grace the covers of many of today’s top country-music performers, and he was the first photographer whose work was showcased at the famous Bluebird Caf. In recent months, his “Songwriters/Musician” portrait series have greeted visitors to the Nashville International Airport and Vanderbilt University. While he has “lensed” practically all of the most famous faces in Nashville, Ed considers himself a go-anywhere, shoot-anything photographer. One of his specialties is environmental portraiture. His 15-year project to document the great songwriters and musicians of Nashville is ongoing and still attracting Nashville’s top talent. Ed’s corporate work ranges from brochures, annual reports and website photos to documentary event coverage. And although he is occasionally commissioned for family portraits, his unique use of lighting and angles guarantees anything but a run-of-the-mill picture. With camera-in-hand since 1979, Ed began his career in photography as a high school student in Michigan, where he participated in a photojournalism mentoring program. After earning a business degree from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, he returned to school for a masters degree in photo communications from Ohio University. In 1990, he became a staff photographer for the Nashville Banner, where he spent five years photographing everything from sports to business news, fashion to entertainment. While doing so, Ed met Middle Tennessee’s most important movers and shakers, and by 1995, he had attracted enough freelance commercial work that he left the Banner and opened his own photography studio. “My career has blessed me with the opportunities not only to meet and photograph many inspiring people but also to capture some amazing moments of time and place,” Ed says. “The variety of my work brings me great joy, and that is something I try to impart in every photograph I take.” Ed Rode Photography Nashville, TN 37221 photo@edrode.net 615.300.5684
