Samoa Hawaii Community: Flag Day Celebration, Local News, Samoan Authentic Food, Business, Samoa Online
Samoa Hawaii Flag Day Celebration started in 1965 by The Council of Samoan Chiefs and Orators (Atoa O Alii) as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It is a week of festivities and a holiday for many Samoan people. This is to commemorate the United States of America flag raised in the Island of Tutuila, Territory of American Samoa on April 17, 1900. Here in Hawaii the Chiefs and The Samoan Community established the Flag Day to help increase cultural awareness and to perpetuate the uniqueness of Samoan arts, crafts, and sports. This will also help to promote the spirit of unity among all the people of our great State of Hawaii. The State of Hawaii dedicated the Week of the 2nd Saturday of August every year for the Samoan Community Flag Day Celebration. It is primarily held at Keehi Lagoon Park, Honolulu, Island of Oahu. Usually start on Sunday with Spiritual Song Fest in most cases a competition of choirs from different churches and denomination coming together to praise God with song. Public invited! See schedule of events and activities for each day and evening throughout the week.
