Satan and Adam is a feature-length documentary that follows two unlikely Harlem street performers who later emerge as award winning recording artists when discovered at large by the band U2 who included them in their documentary, Rattle and Hum. The charismatic Sterling Satan Magee, described as Parliament Funkadelic-meets-Robert Johnson, has toured with Marvin Gaye, Etta James, King Curtis and James Brown and is widely considered the best one-man-band in the world. The pensive, half-Jewish Adam Gussow is a young university professor, published author, and talented harmonica player. Their tense meeting on the hard-won streets of Harlem during a racially charged mid 80s New York defied cultural expectations and set them on a musical odyssey that would forever change their lives and the audiences they inspired.
