1. eLakshya Knowledge Process Services Private Ltd started off as primarily an “incubator” which employs MBA freshers,trains them and then places them in lateral positions in the financial services industry ( banking, insurance and mutual funds). Incorporated in June 2007, eLakshya Knowledge Process Services Private Limited has been founded by Venkatesh Ananathanarayanan ( CA) ( earlier CFO of Sun Microsystems), N Sathish (BTech, MBA from IIM-A) ( earlier Head of Business Development, Birla Sunlife Insurance) and KKA Rahman ( Phd, MBA from IIM-A) ( HR Head of Emirates Bank). As of November 2009, we have three branches across Bangalore and Chennai, and employ over 15 MBAs.
We hence act as an additional linkage between the MBA college and the Financial Services Corporate.During their stint with us, these MBAs are treated as our “normal employees”, with salaries, incentives and other benefits.
The "incubator" itself is a financial services intermediary, which sells mutual funds, life and general insurance, stock broking and does composite financial planning and tax consultancy for its customers. We acquire customers mainly through helpdesks at various corporates, and help them in their financial planning through a unique “prescription” model, where we give a “financial prescription” ( similar to a medical prescription) for a customer’s financial health – for his/her past, present and future wealth.
We also have an in-house tax planning and consultancy cell.
2. Secondly, we also employ a good number of project trainees, Summer Internship trainees and part-time trainees. We welcome Intership program students to work with us for a flexible time-period, since there are several projects which run concurrently.
During their part-stint with us, we give them a validated experience certificate, and also certify them ( in several cases) with AMFI, IRDA and a good bit of financial services training. This program treats the incumbents as “trainees”, with no fixed salary, but with a variable component, and a possible bonus at the end of their stay.
3. We also have a tertiary business model as a pure-play HR consultancy firm, where we place MBA passouts without them needing to go through our “incubation unit”. For this, we invite fresh MBA passouts for a 4-hour workshop at our office ( normally on Fridays or Saturday afternoons), where we present to them the opportunities in the financial services space, and why they should consider this industry for their careers. Furthermore, we grade the students on their skill-sets ( for the benefit of their prospective employer), and also teach them a few interview techniques.
This 4-hour stint with eLakshya is free of cost, and we provide a certification at the end of this small program. The participants are then sent for interviews to various companies ( based on their interest) from the next day onwards.
4. Fourthly, we have now introduced a Corporate Training / Guest lecture Module, where we visit MBA colleges as well as Corporates for various kinds of Sessions for the students or with the employees.
5. Fiftthly, we provide IRDA certification for individuals, right from the initial documentation,mandatory training, exams and final licencing. We have tied up with a few life insurance companies. The MBA crowd is a substantial portion of our IRDA licencees.
