CAROLYN LANDALE
Carolyn Landale MA Fine Art, is a visual artist concerned with perception of space, in particular, sense of place. Our experience of place is subjective, comprising elements from past, present and anticipated future, forming a ballet of rhythms between internal and external, subject and object, body and soul.
Selected Works shows recent paintings by Carolyn Landale, where concepts of space time and rhythm are key themes. The work explores theories of rhythm as movement in space, interrelated with time and repetition. The paintings draw on memories or glimpses of everyday rhythms of place, some suggest a polyrhythmic ensemble of nature, mobility, people, objects or energies while others reflect more simple rhythms, but all give a sense of space and time where rhythms and repetitions vary in tempo, duration and sequence.
Paintings by Carolyn Landale in Selected Archive: Intensity Density Silence are concerned with our sense of silence, in particular, the essence of place which imparts an experience of wordless thought, where the presence of silence is physically felt and space is not a distance but an immensity.
