Lost In A Sense
Lost in a Sense is a 30-minute narrative film. Although this website makes the film appear to have already been shot, it has not. Lost in a Sense is the story of Sam and Katie, two Amish teenagers on a journey of discovery in the world outside their community. Starting on their 16th birthday, Amish youths begin Rumspringa. This is a time when these young people can dress as they wish, work outside the community and drive automobiles. They can experience anything that a normal American teenager would. Sam and Katie plan a cross-country trip during the summer of 1967. Two days into their journey, their car breaks down and they are offered a ride by a bus full of hippies heading to the Monterey International Pop Festival.
Our main characters represent America itself during that same time. As our country is thrust from a time of innocence into a turbulent, unpredictable time, so too are Sam and Katie.
Lost in a Sense will be shot entirely on location in Santa Barbara County. Most of the locations will be in Los Alamos with a few scenes in the surrounding hamlets.
