Lakewood Manor Players: Free Comedy!!
The Players began much like the first twenty minutes of The Goonies, a wily pack of misfits trying to discover comedic gold and save their parents poor real estate foresight, each equipped with their own quirky personality trait. The Manor was officially founded in 2005, as a home for Chicago Improvisers who were no longer interested in immediate feedback or suggestions from the crowd, a place where a back rub was as good as a belly pat and a mustache could just relax. Soon after, the West Coast Mansion sprang up to provide a home for Hollywood writers who still order steak salads and drink gin. A series of promotional parties such Santa vs. Jesus, Communist party, Pinewood Derby, and the Ninja Pub Crawl began what has become a very loyal fan base and the gorgeous blossom that resulted is what you see today. Most of the players are graduates of Second City and Improv Olympic theatres and wed like to thank all the people that have taught us, appeared in videos or done us a favor. This is some serious homegrown Chicago style original sketch comedy that we serve up weekly, you better get it while its hot. PS The Manor is located on Lakewood Avenue, hence the name.
