P. Harold (Hal) Wallar, MD - Photographic Bio
Hal Wallar is a retired eye surgeon who has had a lifelong interest in photography beginning with his first camera that he had as a kid, an Argus A4, and a "sort of" darkroom built in the top of the family garage over the hoods of the cars.
By the time he entered collage his interest in photography involved him in not only being the editor of the collage year book, but doing a considerable amount of photography and image processing for it as well as the setting up and taking of the signature picture of the campus
Photography was interrupted when he went to medical school, but again was an important aspect during his residency as an eye surgeon where he did medical photography as well as illustrative lecture slides. Ophthalmologists by trade have to be interested in optics and many are interested in art in all of its various forms--certainly photography.
After retiring from a career as an eye surgeon and serving on a medical school faculty for 30 years he returned to his passion of photography and image creation. The increasing possibilities and artistic capibilities that have come about because of digital imaging have only furthered heightened that passion.
He is the recipient of numerous awards and has provided presentations and workshop training to other photographers.

Hello and Welcome to my site.
I've been involved with photography for over 30 years. My first experiences were with black and white photography, developing the film and prints in the bathroom at age 12. During high school, I worked for one of the first one-hour labs in Louisiana. Through college I was employed as a sports photographer for LSU, worked for a weekly Baton Rouge newspaper, custom printer at a photolab, and was head photographer for the LSU yearbook, "The Gumbo." Currently, my photography is centered around my 8 and 9 year olds' events, with occasional portrait or glamour photos by appointment. I maintain a full studio in my home; the darkroom is sadly abandoned.
I enjoy all aspects of photography and have experience in every format from 35mm to 8x10 view cameras. The change to digital has been slow as the first cameras I tried were too slow and of too low resolution. Over the past 5 years I've made a gradual switch to shoot only digital photography and am currently using a Nikon D3 and D-300.
It's taken a while to get this web site up; to all of you waiting for pictures, thanks for your patience. I plan to work backwards through my digital archive of 30,000 pictures and get them online this summer. I am hoping to get 1-3 games edited per week. I plan to work backwards through the archive while staying current with the games I'm shooting now. It takes 1-2 hours to edit the photos from each game so be patient and keep checking back!
While I try to get shots of all the kids, I do concentrate on my kids and their classmates. If you don't find your child's photo, point them out to me at the field and I'll try to get some shots.
