I've had a camera in my hand since I was 8. There is something I love about the ability to stop time. To literally capture a moment in time, an emotion and look at it and share what you saw at that moment in time. If you can evoke an emotion even better. I never shot to please anyone else. At least not in my personal work. I'll go out somewhere in nature and just wander until something moves me. Then I could spend 3 hours in one spot exploring and investigating the world around me, with out even knowing the time passed. When I'm photographing out in nature, time stands still for me. When the spirit moves me I'll instinctually set my tripod up and start looking for that something that made me stop and set up. It's there, I know it, I feel it. It's just playing hide and seek waiting for me to find it. Other times it's in plain sight waiting for me to notice it. But it's the process that captivates my attention. The world disappears and becomes my playground. "The world according to Mike!" I've been known to shoot things that aren't very interesting. It's because I love the hunt. I also love the act of creating and composing. With all I've said, I still have not even come close to how I feel about photography, Perhaps the photo will tell you better.
