Welcome to Nancy Ellis Photography. Growing up, I always loved the outdoors, traveling and taking photos. After years in the financial industry, I decided it was time to focus on my love of photography. So, I retired and began my new career.
My idea of fun is to be outside in the pouring rain taking photos of grizzly bears and/or hiking the narrow trails in Italy trying to get the shot while avoiding a fall off the side of the cliff into the Mediterranean.

I began my career as a photographer at an early age. My first camera was a Sears 126mm that my parents gave me when I was twelve. I was first published at the age of fourteen.
Serving in the Marines as a combat photographer taught me how to improvise and adapt to a variety of shooting conditions.
After the Marines, I studied photojournalism at Columbia College Chicago graduating with honors, with a degree in photography.
From there I worked for several newspapers and the Associated Press. Winning awards in feature and sports photography.
My well-rounded background in photography has me working in commercial photography for fortune 500 companies; utilizing large room lighting, studio lighting, and meeting coverage.
As a fine arts photographer; I photograph formal portraits and large groups, for leading studios .
