Welcome to Muddy River Photography LLC. My love of photography started at a very young age with my father teaching me the basics on his Nikon F1. In high school I continued honing my skills by serving as the sports photographer for the school. After high school I went on to earn a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Arizona State University. My engineering degree gives me a technical edge that I use to get the great shot. I enjoy shooting natural, photojournalist style, portraits and weddings. I strive to capture a person's genuine smile rather than a stiff, posed look.

My interest in photography was born out of necessity. Learning how to capture movement was essential if I wanted any evidence of my youngest growing up! I like my pictures to reflect an exact moment in time. From portrait work to performance work, I love truth in photography.

Hi, I'm Laurie Ascanio. In your bio, you're suppose to write about things like, I'm a mom, I'm a wife, daughter etc. I'm silly, sometimes unsure... I love to sing, I'm learning to play guitar... but the biggest obsession of my last 4 years of life has been photography. I have people try to correct me and say, "You're passionate"... I tell them, well no... I'm possessed, obsessed... I saw a quote that I loved the other day. "I'm a photographer because I have to be." I love this whole process and most of all I love capturing a moment in your life that you get to have forever. My biggest pet peeve? Oh thanks for asking. People who don't want to be photographed.
