Welcome to the Quinn Healthcare Walkers for Life at the Downtown YMCA! We are very excited about your interest in our program. The QHC Walkers for Life is a partnership between Quinn Healthcare, PLLC and Visions Physical Therapy. Our walking group is open to anyone who likes to walk. Our objective is to promote and encourage a healthy lifestyle enhanced by frequent walking opportunities which in turn increases health awareness in individuals in our community. This is done by incorporating a lifestyle modification into one’s life to include: “increased fitness” and “improved dietary changes” which can result in a better overall health. Better overall health includes the improvement of many chronic medical conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.
The QHC Walkers meets each Saturday morning at 9:00am at the Downtown YMCA (800 East River Place-Jackson, MS 39202). For your convenience, the weekly walk now takes place inside on an “indoor track.” We will track your success by monitoring your progress with a pedometer (electronic device that records steps) that will be provided to participants at no charge, donated by Visions Physical Therapy.
On some Saturdays, guest speakers from the medical field will be available to give information on various topics. There will also be opportunities to win door prizes for consistent participation and effort.
