Ron Ellis - Author
Ron Ellis is the author of Cogan’s Woods, a fictionalized memoir, with a foreword by Rick Bass, and Brushes with Nature: The Art of Ron Van Gilder. He is the editor of In That Sweet Country (Uncollected Writings of Harry Middleton) and Of Woods & Waters: A Kentucky Outdoors Reader, with a foreword by Nick Lyons. His stories have appeared in Sporting Classics, The Contemporary Sportsman, Kentucky Monthly, Kentucky Afield, First Draft, and The Journal of Kentucky Studies. He is a contributor to Afield: American Writers on Bird Dogs, edited by Bob DeMott and Dave Smith, and The Gigantic Book of Hunting Stories, edited by Jay Cassell, deputy editor of Field & Stream. He was selected to attend the University of Montana’s Environmental Writing Institute in 1998 and in 2004 he received an Al Smith Professional Assistance Award in creative nonfiction from the Kentucky Arts Council. He lives in his native Kentucky with his wife and son.
