Stephen Chen
Stephen Chen is an emerging markets real estate & infrastructure investment banker for Oppenheimer Investments and an adjunct lecturer at the City University of New York. At Oppenheimer, he provides counsel to governments, corporations and industry on accessing the international capital markets.Prior to joining Oppenheimer, Stephen was a Vice President at J.P. Morgan and a Vice President at Bear Stearns. At Bear Stearns, he helped launched BearXplorer™, an international hedge fund software company which tracked macroeconomic trends in 23 countries. It was named Best Risk Analytics Initiative of the Year by the American Financial Technology Awards in 2006 and Buy Side Innovation of the Year by The Banker in 2007. He started his career as a financial analyst at Curtis Mallet-Prevost.Stephen is also the cofounder of GreenSoul Shoes, a charitable shoe company that helps Third World shoemakers donate one pair of shoes, for every pair they sell, to their own community. He is also the current Chairman of the Board, and former Executive Director, of the Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Festival. He is the recipient of the Orphans International Global Citizenship Award, the Dragon 100 Fellowship, the C.V. Starr Fellowship, the Red Cross Merit Award, and the Brown University Undergraduate Research Award. He has spoken at Yale, Brown, NYU, and Columbia University and been covered by the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, Fox News, ABC, and NBC. His work has been profiled in two books, 'Luck does not Exist' by Mario Calabresi and 'Inspired!' by Vik Venkatraman.He is a member of the New York Investment Network and a judge for the Queens StartUP! Business Plan Contest, the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), and the Unreasonable Institute. He is a board advisor of Bizzow and a member of the International Association of Financial Engineers. Stephen was educated at the NYU School of International Business & Finance and the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Brown University.
