van Ray - Urban Streetart Superhero
Born 1984 in Düsseldorf/Germany, Ray started as Graffiti-Artist in the late 90s. After several years of writing, works became more and more politicized, focusing on social and cultural issues. By using a high varity of technics (stencils, posters, stickers, sculptures) in the public sphere, and being involved in several urban-art events, Ray soon became recognized as anonymous urban superhero. After moving to Cologne in 2005, founding the “fancyroom collaboration” in 2007, a plethora of exhibitions and several designs for textile/clothing companies the various works nowadays reflect a mixture of streetart, popart and qualified-nonsense in a shameless manner.
