Trey Rick
Trey Rick has been an adjunct faculty member at ACM@UCO since 2010 – his courses include: Music Industry Studies, Business Studies I & II, Introduction to New Media & Music, and Introduction to Artist Development. Trey received his law degree from Mississippi College School of Law, and his bachelor of arts degree from Millsaps College. While in law school, Trey worked at Malaco Music Group, 'The Last Soul Company,' in the Copyright & Royalties department where he learned about the business of record labels and music publishing. Malaco is the music publisher of classic songs like Old Time Rock & Roll, Mr. Big Stuff,and Ring My Bell. In 2007, he worked on the New Media team at Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) in Nashville, TN under the leadership of Richard Conlon, SVP of Corporate Strategy, Communications & New Media. During the summer of 2008, Trey worked as a legal intern for arts and entertainment attorney, Suzette Toledano, at her entertainment law firm above the House of Blues. He worked as Music Supervisor for the cutting-edge 15-episode MTV series '$5 Cover' by Craig Brewer (writer and director of 'Hustle & Flow' and 'Black Snake Moan') performing music licensing, negotiations, and supervision. MTV New Media released 'webisodes' of the series during the winter of 2009, and MTV Network aired the television series during the spring of 2009. After law school, Trey joined Shrum & Associates, a Nashville-based entertainment law firm, where he researched a variety of music copyright-related issues and analyzed entertainment-related contracts for clients. Also, he founded Third Curve Music & Media Management, a full-service artist management and artist development company that provides artists with a holistic solution to realize their potential across a profusion of music and media platforms. In addition, Trey runs ClearYourSample.com and ClearYourSong.com, where he deals with record label and music publishing executives at the likes of Sony BMG, Gusto Records, EMI, Mr. Bongo, Arc Music and ABKCO to clear music samples and songs. Trey is a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. He spends his nights supporting the local live music scene and producing music in his home recording studio.
