Tariq Online: Singer Songwriter
Pop songster Tariq's latest album, Goodbye Lonely (2005), adopts a more roots-based sound than his previous three CDs. A collection of songs in the key of mellow with soulful vocals over acoustic guitars, it comes across honestly and maintains a sense of intimacy. His debut CD Splat (1995) consisted of quirky acoustic folk-pop tunes and did well on the college radio station circuit. Tariqs subsequent CD, The Basement Songs (1997), marked his foray into the realm of electric guitar with a fuller, more rock sound. The single Chevrolet Way earned Tariq a Juno nomination in 1998 for best new rock/alternative artist. This contemporary pop feel continued on his third album, the independent While Youre Down There (2001).
