IS PHOTOGRAPHY AS IT APPEARS? How Do You See things?
Looking is far different from seeing. I can see the land. I can see a beautiful sunset. I can see the stars. To see acknowledges that something is present. But looking requires interpretation.
"How does it look to you?"
This is a serious question. Past experience, knowledge and judgment are called to service. Seeing the same subject at a different time, a different look is possible. This is the value of photography as a method. Pushed to its limit, the method forces looking, it constantly requires thought, interpretation and re-evaluation. Every moment and every view through the lens can reveal a subject fresh and a new perspective on your area of interest.
As an art photographer, my job isn't really about details like the camera, the film, the light, the framing, the pose, the setting, or the background. These elements of photography must simply be right. After all, when you're a painter, you expect to have a canvas, oils, brushes, and sufficient mastery to use them. When I’m working with my camera, my most important job is to let people feel the way I want them to look for the picture. When I am working on different images like places or things I work with what ever is at hand, everything around are props. If I can do that, the pictures almost create themselves.
As a professional photographer, I try to get a real feel for the event, person, or product in which I am focusing on. It’s very important to listen to the client, and get the feel of what ever it is I am going to undertake. When I fully get an understanding of the person, place or thing makes the shoot so much more enjoyable, not like work at all.
What makes that special to you? What and how are you going to use these images? Getting to know these things are just a few particulars that make my job so rewarding. Like I have always said,
Event Photography is a passion of mine, I love to capture the "moment", just the way want to remember it. If I watched it happen, I missed it. I have to get it with the “CLICK” of the camera as it there, not before or after. Then I got it, and you get it.
