and thank you for stopping by — pull-up a pew. As you already may have guessed, my name is Mark McEnarney and I write for a living. There are many varieties of writer and we come in many different shapes and sizes. There’s a complete array of different writers, more or less specialised in key areas of literature in the many, diverse forms the written word takes. There’s high-brow and low-brow and perhaps middle of the road but regardless of which form the written word takes and as varied as that may be, you can at least rest assured that someone, a human being, has written it. Indeed, a writer has written it. That’s what writers do… they write. I do not wish to come across as being at all snappy here. It’s just that, once upon a time, not too long ago, someone accused me of not being a writer. I was shocked and struck dumb (it may have been the other way around). It rocked me to my very core. My life flashed before me. Here I was, accused of not being a writer because I didn’t write books. With the aid of just a few lengths of rope, an old dinning chair, a handful of bamboo splinters and my beautiful assistant, Helga, I managed with some success to convincingly elucidate the fact that whilst many writers who do write for a living, together with many that don’t, do indeed aspire to writing a book; perhaps a novel or a novella at the very least. In any case, writing your piece of work is the easy part as what often presents the major obstacle is getting your pride and joy published. Getting those hundreds and hundreds of pages of typed, double line spaced script under the nose of a literary agent...
