Times Square Playwrights
The emphasis is on new plays by the writers in the group. At each weekly meeting, the writers are invited to bring a piece no longer than 15 minutes long, which is then cast from the actors present. The piece is presented on a small stage, as a sit-down reading (although some blocking can be done, if appropriate), and then the writer is given feedback from the group. Typically 8 - 10 pieces are done, and depending on the time and energy of the participants, most playwrights get the opportunity to work each week. Times Square Playwrights is also meant to be a place where theater professionals can network and find employment and those to employ in various capacities for assorted projects.
