The Universal Justice Foundation (UJF) is a U.S.-based, non-profit, human and civil rights organization. It works to address issues related to justice and freedom domestically and internationally. It seeks to help with legal defense, mediation and arbitration where possible, as it works to protect and defend constitutional and civil rights including, but not limited to, the following:
* First Amendment rights - freedom of speech, association and assembly, freedom of the press, and freedom of religion,
* Equal protection under the law - protection against unlawful discrimination,
* Right to due process - fair treatment by the government whenever the loss of life, liberty or property is at stake,
* Right to privacy - freedom from unwarranted and illegal government intrusion into personal and private affairs, and
* Right to confront witnesses and challenge incriminating evidence brought in a court of law.
On a more universal level, the UJF will offer needed help, when possible, to mediate and arbitrate international issues, such as Darfur, truth and reconciliation issues, rights to the freedom of worship, minority rights, etc. UJF will work with both governments and non-governmental organizations to set up systems and mechanisms to help reduce tensions, and increase trust to avoid violent means of resolving conflicts.
